Follow these steps to open your pool, but make sure to contact your local pool professional for additional information about your particular geographical location. - If the pool is covered, remove debris and water from the cover before you put it away. Use a quality cover cleaner to clean, deodorize and protect your cover, and then store it in a cool, dry place.
- Use a leaf-cleaner to remove leaves and other debris from the bottom of your pool. Then empty the skimmer and pump strainer baskets.
- Fill your pool to the recommended level. This level is usually halfway up your skimmer.
- Inspect all of your equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, diving boards, ladders and chlorinators for proper installation and operation.
- Take a sample of your pool water to your authorized dealer for a complete analysis. Then follow the instructions the dealer gives you and balance your pool water.
- Shock the pool and remove organic waste.
- Keep out algae by adding an dose of an algaecide to your pool water.
- To sanitize your pool, use a stabilizer. Just put some chlorinated tablets in a floater, skimmer or automatic chlorinator.
- Run the filter system for at least two hours. While the filter system is running, brush the walls and vacuum the pool bottom.
(Note: You should let the surface of your newly plastered pool harden for a few weeks before being brushed or vacuumed.) |
